MARQUETTE — The holiday season is upon us again and with it comes the spirit of giving and caring for those in your community.
Each year, The Mining Journal teams up with local organizations St. Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army to tap into that spirit through the annual Cheer Club toy drive. Those interested in getting involved with the Cheer Club are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys to The Mining Journal office during business hours, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations will be given to families in need throughout the area to ensure that every kid gets to enjoy the holidays.
The Mining Journal office is located at 249 W. Washington St. in downtown Marquette.
Families who are in need can register with the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul to receive gifts for their families.
Previous years have seen numbers of donations grow, with some years more than 1,000 toys being donated to hundreds of families.
Items such as board games, bicycles, toy trucks, dolls, microscopes, art supplies and more have been donated in past years.
Feel free to contact The Mining Journal at 906-228-2500 to answer any questions regarding Cheer Club.
