FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas fell one place to No. 5 in the USA Today Baseball Coaches Poll, which was released Monday for the first time since the regular season began.
The Razorbacks (5-2) were leaped by TCU in the poll. The Horned Frogs moved from No. 5 in the preseason to No. 3 and also passed Florida, which fell to No. 4.
Wake Forest and LSU remain ranked first and second, respectively, in the poll.
Arkansas began the season with a 3-1 series win over James Madison at home. The Razorbacks followed that with a 2-1 weekend at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, where they played one-run games against Oregon State, Oklahoma State and Michigan.
Arkansas defeated Oregon State 5-4 on Friday, lost 2-1 to Oklahoma State on Saturday and defeated Michigan 4-3 on Sunday.
Oregon State moved up one place to No. 6 in this week’s poll. Oklahoma State was fifth among unranked teams that received votes in the poll.
The SEC led all conferences with nine ranked teams in the poll. In addition to LSU, Florida and Arkansas, the SEC is represented by Texas A&M (7), Tennessee (8), Vanderbilt (14), Alabama (15), South Carolina (16) and Auburn (22).
Arkansas has been included in 94 consecutive coaches polls dating to 2017. The Razorbacks have been ranked in the top 10 in 47 of the last 49 polls.
The coaches poll is the poll of record for Whole Hog Sports. In other polls released Monday, Arkansas was ranked second by D1Baseball and Perfect Game, third by Baseball America and fifth by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
