No. 8 Alabama is firmly in the College Football Playoff hunt despite a loss to No. 7 Texas in September, so a strong showing in the Iron Bowl against Auburn on Saturday will go a long way in keeping those hopes alive as it heads into the SEC Championship Game next week vs. No. 1 Georgia. The Crimson Tide offense has developed into a force throughout the season as quarterback Jalen Milroe has become a legitimate superstar. Under first-year offensive coordinator and Broyles Award semifinalist Tommy Rees, Milroe has rebounded from a slow start to a point where the Tide signal-caller has found himself hanging around the Heisman Trophy race late in the season. The Tigers, meanwhile, were blown out at home by New Mexico State last week in what was one of the most embarrassing losses the program has suffered this generation. Did coach Hugh Freeze spend too much time preparing for the Tide instead of the Aggies last week? We will find out this afternoon at Jordan-Hare Stadium, a place where the Tigers have been known to create some magic.
