CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Village Light-Up Christmas Program had its beginning last weekend with the arrival of Santa on the Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department Engine 102. Santa took time out of his busy schedule to make the flight to Cassadaga.
When Santa left the North Pole, there was much snow, and he had heard earlier in the week that Cassadaga had snow.
During the week, the Cassadaga snow melted with the several days of rain, and it was 48 degrees upon his arrival.
With the help of Elf Bonnie, many children sat on his lap and told Santa of their Christmas wishes.Elf Bonnie gave each child a small gift for the time being.
Santa thanks the Cassadaga Volunteer Firemen for their help in his arrival.

The Cassadaga Fire Auxiliary set up their hot chocolate and hot coffee stand nearby. Deputy Mayor William Astry set up two fire pits for those who wanted to warm themselves. In the Cassadaga Branch Library there were treats as well for the children, including books and coloring books, and activities for the children.
At the nearby Park Methodist Church was a living nativity with several farm animals. At 5 p.m., caroling began at the village park at the four corners while the park was lit up of a multitude of lights. At 6 p.m., inside the Park Methodist Church was a Christmas Cantata presented by The Valley Community Choir. Debbie Runge Meder was the organizer and director. Erin Gray was the narrator. There were 23 members in the choir along with Tony Gray and Brandon Meacham in charge of the sound equipment. Many Tuesday evenings were spent rehearsing, with Linda Bartholomew playing the piano. Village trustee Cindy Flaherty took part in the program with the piano performance of the Christmas Song.
The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga are thanked for their major organization of the Light-Up Cassadaga event.
