Q: Why did you want to start this kind of business?
A: To empower people to take control of their health so they can make informed decisions. I want people to realize they have the ability to improve their health with lifestyle and environmental changes. Genetics are not a person’s destiny, nor does a diagnosis define who you are. I am living proof that making lifestyle changes positively impacts your health and well being.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: In 2020 I began my own journey to a healthier version of myself. I had been sick for about 6 months and received a diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease. I knew I didn’t want to be on medications and have surgeries the rest of my life, so I took control of my health by making lifestyle changes. As my health greatly improved, I knew I wanted to help others. I enrolled in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy to receive my certification. After graduating in 2022, I opened Compass Health Coaching in Carlisle.
Q: What does your business sell or provide?
A: Empowerment for my clients to make health decisions through 1:1 Health Coaching sessions with me that are personalized and tailored to their specific goals. The combination of affordability and personalization makes my service not only accessible, but also uniquely attuned to the diverse needs of my clients. By prioritizing individualized attention and providing practical solutions, I contribute to creating a supportive environment for positive health outcomes. Another integral part of what I do is provide tailored employee health and wellness programs for businesses. All of my services are affordable and personalized.
Anyone interested in 1:1 Health Coaching sessions gets a free, virtual 45-minute consultation to learn more about how my sessions will help them smash through their health goals, build confidence and empower them in their health care choices.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you are facing right now?
A: Mindsets. People think they don’t have control over what happens to their health, when nothing could be further from the truth. Functional medicine emphasizes a whole-body systems approach that focuses on the root cause of issues concerning one’s well-being. It focuses on the body’s natural ability to heal itself under the right conditions. By creating favorable conditions for healing, my services illustrate that lifestyle choices and environmental factors play a significant role in well-being. I encourage my clients to take an active role in their health by envisioning their goals, educating and equipping them with the tools to learn what works best for their body, and empower them to make those changes that will achieve their desired goals.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do or place in Cumberland County?
A: I love that while Cumberland County is the fastest growing county in Pennsylvania, we still have beautiful, picturesque parks, streams and trails to get back into nature. You have the best of both worlds.
For a lot of people out there, losing or maintaining weight can be a lifelong struggle. It is a common problem, one that dietitians are warning people to avoid due to its long-term health effects.
