DISCUSSION/ADVISORIES

An upper level disturbance / combination cold front approaches this afternoon, potentially bringing a few snow showers to the area. ( mixed rain and snow in the valleys ) Otherwise, skies will just be rather cloudy as a general rule. The disturbance moves across the area tonight with a continued chance of some scattered snow showers and flurries. While most of the area see’s little in the way of snow, some of the higher terrain areas could see a light accumulation. You can click on the projected snowfall map below to see where you area is regarding any accumulations

As that disturbance pushes away overnight, drier air will be flowing in on a westerly wind, bringing a dry day for Friday along with some sunshine back across the area. However, a storm system will be quickly approaching from the southwest and clouds will thicken early Friday evening. Similar to the storm from Tuesday night, it’ll take a track up to the west of the area, allowing milder air to work up into the region. Snow will initially overspread the area Friday night, but then change to rain in the valleys after a light accumulation. Winds increasing out of the southeast will transport in milder air to allow for the changeover to rain after a light accumulation of snow ( generally an inch or two in the valleys. – several inches in the mountains ) Gusty southeast winds will continue through the night. By early Saturday morning, the system will be lifting north of the region with things drying out as a general rule. Windy conditions continue into Saturday with a few additional rain showers redeveloping as the day progresses. ( or snow showers – mountains ) By Sunday, colder air will be spilling into the area with temperatures trending colder through at least the first half of next week. The 2nd half of the weekend will continue with brisk winds about the area, along with some scattered lake effect snow showers possible, with what otherwise will be a mostly cloudy day.
