Betty J. Cowan, born on July 17, 1943, in Jamestown, NY, peacefully passed away on Nov. 11, 2023, in Cherry Creek, NY. Cherished daughter of Margaret (Hogue) and George Peters, she enriched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth and kindness.
The backbone of her beloved family, Betty leaves behind her committed children Brad (Melissa) Cowan, Chris (Dawn) Cowan, and Missy (Dan) Wysocki.
Her grandchildren Mandy, Kevin (Melissa), Chris, and Jess (Jared) and her great-grandchildren Hank, Cece, Joseph, Luke, and Sophia treasured her love and wisdom. Her endeared brother Howard Peters, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins continue to share her stories and remember her fondly.
With deep sadness, we recall her sister Geraldine and brother George, who predeceased her but left indelible memories. Betty spent 29 cherished years
serving at the Western New York Developmental Disabilities Services Office (WNYDDSO) at various locations, earning the love and respect of her colleagues.
Betty’s passions reflected the beauty of her soul: her cat Frannie, the joy of planting flowers, the fascination with people-watching, and most dearly, the precious time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each person who crossed paths with Betty carries in their heart a piece of her enduring kindness and strength. Betty J. Cowan will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
