The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held their annual installation banquet at the Silver Creek Overseas Veterans Post.
Master of Ceremonies, Professor Ray Rushboldt, opened the event with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for deceased club members.
He introduced the head table and special guests, which included Fredonia Mayor Mike Ferguson, and former Fredonia Mayor Doug Essek. They both expressed their appreciation for the invitation, and for all the valuable work the clubs do for the community.
Guest speaker was Silver Creek Mayor Jeffrey Hornburg. He spoke about some of the latest successes in the village, like the Dave’s Christmas Store, and the Hideaway Bay Resorts. The biggest news was the future of the old Main St. School, which is scheduled for demolition, and to be turned into a 54 unit senior complex.
Rushboldt then administered the oath of office to the newly elected officers of the Association. They included Joe Rozen, president, Pat Begier, vice-president, Tom Halicki, treasurer, Jim Pryll, secretary, and trustees Dolores Mauer, Shane Boyle, and Edgar “Pinky” Ziegler.
Rozen said a few words about his association with the village of Silver Creek, starting with his first full time job there, to visits to the annual Grape Festivals.
The next regular monthly meeting of the Association will be held on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 10:30 a.m., at the Dom Polski Club, 179 Lake Shore Drive East, in Dunkirk.
