In a sloppy, low-scoring game marked more by bad offense than good defense, the Green Bay Packers lead the New York Giants by a score of 10-7 heading into halftime.
The first half featured a missed field goal, a turnover on downs, a fumble, an interception, a kick-catch interference penalty, one of the most blatant pass interferences you’ll see all year, a kickoff that was going out of bounds but saw the return team touch the ball too early and thus negate the probable penalty, and four punts. The two teams also combined to convert just 2 of 11 third downs, and only three of the 12 possessions saw the offense take the ball from its own end and past midfield.
Jordan Love completed 12 of 19 passes for 110 yards, but he also accounted for both Packers turnovers as he fumbled on a designed run and threw an interception into double coverage. Tommy DeVito repeatedly threw screens and checkdowns, and missed his intended receiver whenever throwing down the field. Neither run game accomplished much of note, though both of the game’s scores did come on the ground as Jayden Reed found the end zone on a jet sweep and Saquon Barkley hit paydirt from five yards out after a long run from Wan’Dale Robinson.
Will the Packers grab the road victory to maintain their playoff positioning, or will the Giants pull off a second-half comeback and secure an upset? We’ll find out soon enough.
