Kent joins St Peter’s staff
St. Peter’s Health Medical Group – North Clinic welcomes family medicine physician assistant Sarah Kent.
Kent MS, MSPAS, MPH, PA-C earned her master of science in physician assistant studies and master of public health from Touro University California in Vallejo, California.
She earned her master of science in biological sciences from Cal Poly Pomona in Los Angeles, and her bachelor of science in biological sciences from Cal State San Marcos in San Marcos, California.
Kent is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, California Association of Physician Assistants and Montana Association of Physician Assistants.
She is providing care at the St. Peter’s Health North Clinic, 3330 Ptarmigan Lane in Helena.

March 1 deadline to report livestock
Montanans have until March 1 to report the number of each type of livestock they own and to pay the per capita fees set yearly by the Montana Board of Livestock.
This is the first year the payment due date has been March 1. The Board of Livestock has also changed per capita fee rates this year.
Livestock owners must report and pay for what they own as of Feb. 1, 2024. If you reported last year but no longer own livestock, you still need to submit a reporting form to let us know your livestock count is zero.
Owners can report and pay online through the department’s TransAction Portal at https://MTRevenue.gov/livestock.
Owners preferring a paper reporting form can download one at https://MTRevenue.gov/livestock, or call (406) 444-6900 for assistance.
Chamber has big night in February
The Helena Area Chamber of Commerce’s combined Chamber Night + Awards Event, will be Feb. 16 at the Helena Civic Center.
This event is the primary fundraising drive for 2024.
This year’s Chamber awards for Business, Non-Profit, Businessperson and Entrepreneur of the Year will be presented during the gala instead of the typical luncheon.

New car wash coming to town
Ground was broken this month for a new car wash.
Rocky Mountain Car Wash says on Facebook that it plans to open in the fall at 724 W Custer Ave.
It will feature three automatic car wash bays, six oversized self-serve bays (large enough to fit a semi) and free vacuums.
People are encouraged to follow along on social media for construction updates.
USDA grants to help ag producers
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for grants to help agricultural producers maximize the value of their products and venture into new and better markets.
The grants from the Value-Added Producer Grants program and help farmers and ranchers generate new products, create marketing opportunities and increase their incomes through value-added activities.
Those eligible include independent producers, agricultural producer groups, farmer or rancher cooperatives, and majority-controlled producer-based business ventures.
USDA may award up to $75,000 for planning activities or up to $250,000 for working capital expenses related to producing and marketing a value-added agricultural product.
Planning activities may include conducting feasibility studies and developing business plans. Working capital expenses may include costs associated with processing, marketing, advertising, inventory and salaries.
USDA is particularly interested in applications that will advance Biden administration priorities to:
• Reduce climate pollution and increase resilience to the impacts of climate change through economic support to rural communities.
• Ensure all rural residents have equitable access to Rural Development programs and benefits from RD-funded projects.
• Help rural communities recover economically through more and better market opportunities and improved infrastructure.
Paper applications must be postmarked and delivered by mail, email or in person to one of Montana’s six offices by 4:30 p.m. April 16. Electronic applications are due by 9:59 p.m. April 11.
