Apple’s iMessage provides multiple ways to enhance your conversations, including emojis, photos, and videos. Moreover, users can easily send voice messages directly from their iPhone via iMessage, to both iOS and Android smartphones. Here’s a simple guide on how to send a voice message from your iPhone without relying on third-party apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, or Telegram.

Sending a voice message from your iPhone is a fairly simple process. Just click on a contact, and tap the microphone icon on the bottom right corner, then select the “audio” option. Now, dictate your message and tap on the green arrow icon to send the message.

Do note that this method works flawlessly when sending a voice message to an iPhone user. However, if you want to send a voice message to an Android smartphone, you may need to enable MMS services, which are limited to select network providers.

Currently, Airtel offers MMS services, while Jio does not. Hence, if you are using a Jio network, you won’t be able to send a voice message from your iPhone to an Android smartphone user, although you can still send one to an iPhone user. Contacts with iMessage support will be indicated by a blue color, while those without will be green. Once sent, recipients can react to the voice message using stickers or emojis.

If your network provider does not support MMS, you might receive a popup stating that you “cannot send message.”

However, this could all change later this year; Apple has officially confirmed that iMessage will support the Rich Communication Services (RCS) message format, enabling iPhone and Android users to exchange multimedia files and voice messages seamlessly.
