Wipro on Wednesday announced an expanded partnership with Intel Foundry for chip design. As the design services and alliance partner, Wipro will help Intel Foundry develop its most advanced process nodes, including the Intel18A process node.
The two companies are targeting sectors such as heavy industries, automotive, industrial and telecommunications to leverage generative AI-driven designs and foundry services to drive ongoing innovation.
The development assumes significance as demand for generative-AI enabled products by enterprises, which require advanced AI chips to perform tasks, is on a rise.
According to Allied Market
“Together, with Intel, we will deliver silicon devices to our clients with proven industry
“We will be targeting new startup markets, especially in the Gen-AI space, helping our clients further shorten the time to market,” Kapur added.
“Wipro will leverage Intel’s strong worldwide fabrication plants to ensure silicon availability by delivering a geo-diverse and resilient semiconductor supply chain that enables clients across businesses and geographies to address their silicon shortage problems,” said Harmeet Chauhan, global head, Wipro Engineering Edge.
Lately, the government is also looking to support the development of AI chips as part of the India
Last year, Wipro said it will invest $1 billion in AI over the next three years. The investment would help the company advance its foundation in AI, data and analytics capabilities, build new consulting capabilities and more, it had said.
