James H. Kawski, 86 of Fredonia passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Englewood, FL, January 28, 2024. He was born October 8, 1937 the son of the late Frank and Rose (Larson) Kawski.
A retired employee of SUNY Fredonia and True Temper he also worked at Blackstone Corporation and the Green Thumb Program.
James was a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church and former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Club & Kosciusko Club.
He married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, the late Veronica “Tootie” Ransom on August 29, 1959.
A loving father of their surviving children Brent (Brenda) Kawski, Julie Greene and Kenneth (Deb) Kawski, as well as Grandchildren Kyle (Samantha) Kawski, Craig (Katherine) Kawski, Kenny (Leslie) Greene, Kristina (Collin) Greene and Joshua Nash. Two Great Grandsons Coleman and Levi Kawski and Sister-n-law Kelly Ransom along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death in addition to his parents and wife are Great Granddaughter Kira Rose Kawski, siblings Frank, Leo, Robert and William Kawski, Martha Brisky, Dorothy Godlewski, Phyllis Butcher and Eleanor Shuart. In Laws Ronald and Hilda Ransom and Brother-n-law Robert Ransom.
Jim was a lifelong dedicated Buffalo Bills fan, he hoped so hard for a super bowl win. He proudly wore his “Give me one before I die” shirt the past few years. He became friends with Marv Levy when they had their training camp at Fredonia State and offered him advice on some of their play calls. He enjoyed playing the lotto in hopes of hitting it big one day! He also enjoyed attending his grand- children’s sporting events and in his younger years, hunting on the hill with his brothers.
A celebration of James’ life will be held at a later date.
