One of the brightest young stars in all of boxing returns to the ring on Saturday in Houston as 25-year-old Ryan Garcia looks to rebound from his lone career defeat.
Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) returns to the 140-pound division as he welcomes Mexican slugger Oscar Duarte (26-1-1, 21 KOs) inside the Toyota Center as “King Ryan” looks to put his April knockout loss to unbeaten Gervonta “Tank” Davis further into the rearview.
Only complicating matters for Garcia is that he will debut his third head trainer in the last three years in Derrick James. Garcia has also had no shortage of distractions entering the fight as he has publicly feuded all week, including during Thursday’s final press conference, with his promoters, Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins of Golden Boy.
