The Steelers and Ravens have one half of their regular season finale in the books. Through two quarters of this Week 18 head-to-head and these clubs are knotted up at seven apiece.
Overall, it was a sluggish first half for these AFC North rivals, large in part due to the damp weather. Combined, there were six punts and three fumbles between these teams, but there were also some bursts of offense sprinkled in. On their second drive of the game, the Steelers orchestrated a 12-play, 76-yard touchdown drive as Najee Harris barreled into the end zone for a six-yard score. That was Harris’ eighth rushing touchdown on the year, a new career high.
As the half rolled along, it was a slog for Baltimore, who was resting most of its starters with the No. 1 seed already clinched. Tyler Huntley, who was starting in place of Lamar Jackson, had just five passing yards until taking the ball at the 5:07 mark of the second quarter and leading the Ravens on a 71-yard touchdown drive that was capped off by a 27-yard catch and run by Isaiah Likely into the end zone.
As we noted, the Ravens are not playing for much in this game, but the same can’t be said for the Steelers, who are still looking to secure a playoff spot. If they win, they’d either need the Bills or Jaguars (or tie) to lose and they’d get in. They could also reach the playoffs with a Jaguars loss, Broncos win, and Saturday’s other game between the Texans and Colts not ending in a tie, but a win here certainly gives them a leg up.
So, will the Steelers get a win and inch that much closer to a playoff berth? Or will the Ravens backups carry the baton from the starters and end the year on a high note before their postseason run? We’re about to find out. As this game continues to unfold, check out our live blog of Saturday’s contest. Below, you’ll find expert analysis and real-time highlights of all the best plays.
