At halftime of the final game of the 2023 NFL regular season, the Miami Dolphins lead the Buffalo Bills 14-7 in the battle for the AFC East title.
The first half was full of absolutely wild twists and turns. Josh Allen threw not one, but two interceptions in the end zone. Tua Tagovailoa was picked off, too. Allen missed Stefon Diggs on a wide-open deep shot, but connected with him on another, significantly more difficult throw.
De’Von Achane ripped off several long runs, including a 25-yarder that went for a touchdown. Trent Sherfield caught a score from Allen on a ball that was tipped about 30 feet into the air. Khalil Shakir had a 46-yard catch-and-run. Dawson Knox, Dalton Kincaid, Cedrick Wilson and River Cracraft all had grabs that gained 18 yards or more.
Tagovailoa struggled to find his rhythm for much of the first half, then went 4 of 4 for 49 yards and a score on Miami’s late-half touchdown drive that staked the Dolphins to their current lead. Buffalo then engineered a potential scoring drive of its own, with Allen using both his arm and his legs to get his team into range for a potential game-tying score, only for James Cook to drop one shot in the end zone and Ty Johnson to get tackled just short of the goal line on another, while the Bills had no timeouts left.
So, which of these old rivals will prevail in the second half? We’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime, keep it locked to our live blog throughout the rest of the evening as we update you with stats, scores, and highlights.
