HAMPTON, Ga. — Even after all that goes into the Daytona 500, and the triumph and agony that comes with that race, there’s no downtime to be had for the NASCAR Cup Series as the season begins in earnest. Especially not at yet another track where the best drivers in stock car racing are set to put the hammer down and go wide out on one of the classic racetracks of the Southeast.
The NASCAR Cup Series is off and racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Ambetter Health 400, marking the second-straight race on a drafting track to open the 2024 season. Polesitter Michael McDowell won the opening stage Sunday, a race that got off to a wild start as a track-record 16 cars crashed on Lap 2.
