• Frank’s BBQ Trading Post, 5943 Sky Pond Drive, Loveland, is offering barbecue classes. Brisket Basics will take place at 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, and costs $40 per person. A Pork Rib Class will be offered at 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, looking at trimming, seasoning, wrapping and saucing to make pork spare ribs, for $50 per person. • Cheri Brandt, a licensed practical nurse at Columbine Commons in Windsor since 2013, was honored Jan. 25 with the Daisy Award. According to a news release, one of the team members who nominated her wrote: “… Cheri is an exceptional colleague who has dedicated many years of her nursing career to the patients and residents of Columbine Health Systems. She is a compassionate caregiver, consistently demonstrating genuine interest in their health and well-being.”
• Human Bean Northern Colorado raised nearly $67,600 at its Coffee for a Cure event in October to help local cancer fighters, and divided the funds between local Banner and UCHealth facilities. On Saturday, Feb. 3, Human Bean presented a check to the Weld Legacy Foundation for $33,799.12 during the University of Northern Colorado basketball game. Formerly the North Colorado Medical Center Foundation, the Weld Legacy Foundation provides health and education-focused nonprofit organizations in Weld County with tools and resources tto multiply their impact and expand their outcomes.
• Covidien LP of Mansfield, Mass., has been assigned a patent (No. US 11883058 B2, initially filed Feb. 27, 2020) developed by Kenneth E. Netzel of Loveland and David J. Van Tol of Boulder for “Jaw members, end effector assemblies, and ultrasonic surgical instruments including the same.”
• Micron Technology Inc. of Boise, Idaho, has been assigned a patent (No. US 11887676 B2, initially filed Dec. 23, 2021) developed by Bruce A. Liikanen of Berthoud for “Adjusting program effective time using program step characteristics.”
• Micron Technology Inc. of Boise, Idaho, has been assigned a patent (No. US 11886726 B2, initially filed Dec. 6, 2021) developed by nine inventors, including Bruce A. Liikanen of Berthoud, for “Block family-based error avoidance for memory devices.”
• Woodward Inc. of Fort Collins has been assigned a patent (No. US 11885655 B2, initially filed Aug. 6, 2021) developed by four inventors, including Gregory Warren Pulley of Loveland, for “Ultrasonic flow meter having flow conditioning arrangements for flow controlling in a linear fluid conduit.”
