Martha McKinney
Martha McKinney, 77, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Bad Worishofen, Germany, daughter of Walter and Anizia Kopystianski. With her family, Martha immigrated to The United States of America and spent her youth in Dunkirk, NY.
Martha settled in Louisville, KY where she raised her family with her devoted husband, Michael McKinney. She worked in the legal field as a paralegal but always found a creative outlet in fashion and jewelry. Most will remember Martha as a beautiful, stylish and classy woman. She celebrated her Ukrainian culture and loved passing her heritage on through her role as Baba to her grandbabies.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anizia (Korytko) Kopystianski. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Mike; son, Todd Opacinch (Dr. Janet Leezer); daughter, Aimee Lucas (Charles Owens Jr.); grandchildren, Jacob Lucas, Madeleine Opacinch, Elizabeth Lucas and Callista Lucas. She is also survived by her brother, Orrie Kopystanski; sister-in-law, Anne McKinney; nephew, Daniel Kopystanski; niece, Katherine Kopystanski; former son-in-law, Mike Lucas; and a host of other family, friends and neighbors.
