MLB free agency 2023-24 tracker: Clayton Kershaw returning to Dodgers for 2024

The Dodgers agreed Feb. 6 on a deal to bring star pitcher Clayton Kershaw back for 2024. The deal is reportedly for one year, with a player option for 2025. According to Joel Sherman of The New York Post, the deal is for $5 million guaranteed plus up to $7.5 million in bonuses.

It’ll be Kershaw’s 17th season in Los Angeles, and the Dodgers are the only team he has played for in his MLB career. Kershaw underwent shoulder surgery in November and is not expected back until the middle of this season. He was ranked No. 14 on Yahoo Sports’ list of this winter’s top free agents.

Justin Turner has found a new team to play for, and it’ll keep him in the American League East.

The designated hitter agreed Jan. 30 on a 1-year, $13 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. The 39-year-old reportedly has the ability to earn an additional $1.5 million in bonuses.

The former Phillies fan favorite is headed to Milwaukee. Hoskins agreed Jan. 23 with the Brewers on a two-year, $34 million contract with an opt-out after the first year.

With Hoskins coming off a missed season due to a torn ACL, the opt-out gives him a chance to prove that he’s back to form in 2024 and reset his value for next winter. The first baseman and DH was No. 22 on Yahoo Sports’ list of this winter’s top 25 free agents.

Seven-time All-Star reliever Aroldis Chapman agreed Jan. 22 to terms on a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The deal is for one year and $10.5 million.
