Trash pick-up days are changing in New Orleans starting in April as Sidney Torres’ IV Waste starts a new contract with the city.
IV Waste already picks up trash in Lakeview, Gentilly and downriver neighborhoods. Now it’s adding Mid-City, Uptown and parts of Treme and Carrollton.
The new contract pays IV Waste $17.7 million in the first year, and up to $166 million over seven years.
Trash in the French Quarter and Central Business District is being picked up under an emergency extension with Kellermeyer Bergensons Services LLC, or KBS, whose contract ended at the end of 2023. Torres has indicated interest in returning service there.
IV Waste is also set to take over service in Harahan this year after leaving Kenner amid lawsuits and controversy with the city.
On Friday, IV Waste shared the new schedule for parts of New Orleans:
- Monday: Mid-City and parts of Treme
- Tuesday: parts of Mid-City, Hollygrove and Carrollton
- Wednesday: Uptown, Freret and Broadmoor
- Thursday: Garden District and Irish Channel
- Friday: Lower Garden District and Central City
