Jenna Sipponen and Louis Butterfield, owners of a local video production company, noticed that a lot of businesses were closing down for the winter here in the South Okanagan, and things were getting really sleepy.
Not only that, but they heard that local businesses have suffered over the past few years between COVID, wildfires, and rock slides. They decided to put their video skills to good use to shine a spotlight on some amazing businesses and places people can visit during the winter.
They hope the video will help encourage people to support local businesses and hopefully discover somewhere to call a new favourite.
After one week of planning, five days of on-site filming and 50-plus hours of editing, the video was released this week on YouTube. It’s titled: “Best South Okanagan Valley Winter Destinations.”
It runs just over five minutes and features seven local businesses:
“Our hope is that these businesses will get more foot traffic this winter and continue to thrive. And for all local businesses to remain at the top of people’s minds when they need something, because it keeps more of our dollars in our community,” said Sipponen, co-owner of Awesome Business Videos.
“There is so much that goes into owning a local business. These business owners put in countless hours behind the scenes. And oftentimes, people don’t realize how much of a difference it makes when they support a local business.”
Established in 2023, Awesome Business Videos is a new video production company based in the South Okanagan.
