After a thrilling pair of divisional games, the NFC Championship is set between the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions.
The narratives surrounding these teams have been vastly different all year. Where the 49ers have turned somewhat into villains, who have assembled a super squad where a Super Bowl is the expectation, the Lions are the most beloved team in the country. After years and years of despair and hanging out in the basement of the NFC, head coach Dan Campbell has put together a Super Bowl-worthy squad. Of course, they’ve still got a tough test in front of them if they want any chance of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

Sam Farley writes, “As much fun as the Lions are to watch, I simply can’t see them keeping the 49ers at bay with a pass-funnel defense. The Lions allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game in the regular season and just let Baker Mayfield throw for 349 yards and three touchdowns.”
ESPN: 49ers are heavy favorites to advance to Super Bowl with home win
ESPN Analytics give the 49ers a 74.1% chance to win in Santa Clara and advance to their second Super Bowl under head coach Kyle Shanahan. The Lions are left with a 25.9% chance to win on the road and take home their first NFC title.
