Shirley Marsh Farnham, 86 of Dean Road in Stockton, N.Y., peacefully passed away this December 8, 2023 of natural causes.

Shirley was born at home on Mill Street in Stockton, NY on June 29, 1937, the daughter of Edward and Stella Marsh as the youngest of 12 siblings.

She had been married to Frederick Farnham of Brockton, N.Y. for 68 year. Shirley was the mother of: Mitchell (Sandy) Farnham, Matthew (Susan) Farnham, Georgette (Zoltan) Bouwhuis and Jason (Kim) Farnham. She was the grandmother to the late Heather and Tiffany as well as to Meghan, Mallory, Asa, Amanda, Lucas, Maria, Brooke, Brittany and Brandy. She was also had 15 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was employed by Chautauqua County, but even after her retirement she remained very active in the community she loved so much. She enjoyed being a lifetime member of the Stockton Community Church, where she was also involved in the church choir. She sang in the Christmas and Easter Cantatas. She has been active on the Mary E. Seymour library board, was a passionate member of SCORE and was a member of the Stockton Book club. For many years she worked the board of elections. In the little spare time she had left, she was an avid painter and quilt maker. Her family was in love with her traditional family recipes and everyone was always looking forward to Sunday Family Dinner.

She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Stella Marsh and by her 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

The family would like to thank Westfield Absolute Care for the loving care Shirley has received there in her final days, her two wonderful home care aides and her daughter-in-law, Sandy for the great care they have given Shirley at home.

Friends and relatives are invited to the funeral and celebration of Shirley’s life at the Stockton Community Church, W. Railroad Avenue, Stockton,, N.Y., Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask you to make a donation to either the Stockton library or to breast cancer research with the American cancer society at cancer.org or with Susan G. Komen at komen.org as Shirley was a two-time breast cancer survivor herself.
