Coventry vs Leicester, Saturday 12.30pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

Speaking on the Championship Predictions podcast, David Prutton says Leicester will face a tough test away at Coventry

Coventry are climbing again. Just like last season, they started slowly but have got themselves together and are pushing up towards that top six. It is some job that Mark Robins keeps doing there.

But Leicester look relentless again. It really is a matter of when, not if, they get promoted. But they could face a bit of trouble up the road here, and might well be held.

Prediction: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds)

Birmingham vs Swansea, Saturday 3pm

It’s a new manager derby at St Andrew’s! It just didn’t work out for Wayne Rooney at Birmingham, and it will be interesting to see what kind of a tune Tony Mowbray can get out of this squad.

Swansea have also finally moved to bring Luke Williams back to the club. He did fabulous things with Notts County, but this is a whole different level and he will need to adjust quickly. I have a feeling it will be an opening defeat.

Prediction: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Southampton vs Sheffield Wednesday, Saturday 3pm

Simeon Gholam puts David Prutton to the test on the 2023/24 Championship season so far with our half-term quiz…

Southampton suffered a very mini blip against Norwich on New Year’s Day, but got an excellent result in the FA Cup and have the chance to put some real pressure on Ipswich here. A win would, at least for a few hours, take them into second.

But Sheffield Wednesday will be no pushovers. Danny Rohl has turned things around there and they will put up a real fight. It could be close, but I just have to back the Saints to edge it at home.

Prediction: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds)

Ipswich vs Sunderland, Saturday 5.30pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

David Prutton believes Sunderland will claim an away win at Portman Road against Ipswich on the Championship Predictions podcast

Ipswich will be feeling nervy. They could find themselves out of the top two for the first time since September by kick-off at Portman Road, which felt unthinkable with the pace they were setting a few weeks ago.

In league position, Sunderland are doing well, but that defeat to Newcastle will leave a cloud over the club and Michael Beale, and he’ll want to banish those memories instantly. Can they? I think they could take advantage of an edge Tractor Boys side here and nick it.

Prediction: 0-1 (Sky Bet odds)

QPR vs Watford, Sunday 12pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

David Prutton predicts a tough afternoon for QPR against Watford on the Championship Predictions podcast

It looks a lot more gloomy this side of the festive schedule than it did at the start for QPR. At one stage they looked like they could escape the bottom three, but now find themselves adrift again.

Watford are slowly creeping up towards those play-offs. Whether they can make it or not is another question, but they should have the power to see off a dispirited QPR here.

Prediction: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds)
