Susan J. Schrantz
Susan J. Schrantz, 68, of Dunkirk, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at her home.
She was born in Dunkirk, NY on Aug. 5, 1955.
The daughter of the late Lawrence and Barbara (Soper) Schrantz.
Susan was a 1973 graduate of Fredonia High School. She worked in retail for 45 years. Throughout her career she worked at Twin Fair, Hills, Zayres, Ames, and was a long time Assistant Manager at Walmart in Fredonia. She retired from Walmart in 2019 with 30 years of service and many dear friends she considered to be family.
Known to all as Sue, she was a familiar and kind face to many.
She was a long time resident of Dunkirk and was a member of several local clubs including the Dunkirk Conservation Club, Dom Polski, Kosciuszko Club, and the Senior Citizens. Sue was always eager to help anyone in need and was found often helping out different organizations throughout the area.
Sue had many dear friends and neighbors which she valued spending time with. She greatly enjoyed sunny days on her back patio, working out, and meeting for lunch. Sue was always up to share a pizza, as it was her favorite food. She was an avid traveler and often visited family and friends across the country. Sue was devoted to her family and never missed a gathering for her nieces, nephews, and her extended family.
Susan is survived by her sister Linda (Patrick) Dobek of Dunkirk, two brothers, Steven (Rhonda) Schrantz of San Antonio, TX and John (Diane) Schrantz of Gilbert, AZ and her sister in law Sharon Schrantz of Fredonia.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Jennifer (EJ) Hayes, Jeffery Dobek, Jeremy (Molly) Dobek, Joshua Dobek, Jasey Manning, Nick Schrantz, Krista Schrantz, Justin (Holly) Schrantz, Sophie Schrantz, Ryan Fauber, Amber, Jennifer, Alexis Schrantz, Erica (Blake) Whetten, Chris Korsan.
Besides her parents, Susan was preceded in death by a brother David L. Schrantz.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of your choice in her honor.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call Saturday from 11-2 pm at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 E. Doughty St. Inurnment will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.
