Thomas Eugene Hays died peacefully with his wife by his side Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023 at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.
Tom was born in East Liverpool Feb. 13, 1948, a son of the late Ralph Hays and Elinor (Philler) Hays. Having lived his life in the area, Tom was a graduate of Southern Local High School Class of 1966, obtained an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kent State University, was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, was a member of Bethal United Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge #348 and the Salineville American Legion. Tom also loved woodworking and making furniture. Tom also loved going to car shows and owned a corvette
Tom is survived by his wife Deborah (Kerr) Hays, whom he married June 13, 1970; a brother, Gary Hays of Mansfield, Texas; a sister, Lynette Wolski of Florida; three nieces; a nephew; Dennis Thompson whom he loved like a son and the two loves of his life, Kingston Baez and Baen Bloor — his two little buddies.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Hays.
Funeral services will be held at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home in Salineville Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. with Fred May officiating.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m.
