A pair of Texans walk into the weekend at the 2023 Hero World Challenge in a share of the lead. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Texas Longhorn brethren Jordan Spieth sit atop the leaderboard at 9 under after 36 holes as both eye an emphatic finish to their 2023 seasons.
They will need to contend with a leaderboard filled with major championships as Champion Golfer of the Year Brian Harman sits one adrift at 8 under after battling back from early struggles in his second round. Harman will be joined by two-time PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas in the penultimate group.
Thomas looks much more like his normal self this week following a disappointing 2023 season on the PGA Tour. Finding a groove with his iron play, the 30-year-old looks for his first victory since raising the Wanamker Trophy at Southern Hills in 2022 and will begin the weekend from 7 under. Fellow PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa has eyes on his second straight victory from one further back alongside Matt Fitzpatrick and Tony Finau.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods aims to continue his improvements as he followed an opening 75 with a 2-under 70 on Friday. Looking more and more comfortable with each hole under his belt, the 15-time major champion will look to put an early charge into the weekend action.
Keep it locked here as CBS Sports will be keeping track of everything with live updates and analysis throughout the day at Round 3 of the Hero World Challenge.
